Bucs crushed by the Saints 42-17

In an attempt to play spoiler and potentially save jobs, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers failed in both categories. The New Orleans Saints gave the Bucs a 42-17 beat down at the Superdome.

It all started when Saints quarterback Drew Brees hit wide receiver Lance Moore for a 44-yard touchdown on the game’s opening drive. After the Bucs answered with a flea-flicker from Mike Glennon to Tiquan Underwood in the end zone, New Orleans would score another touchdown on their ensuing drive via a Brees pass to tight end Jimmy Graham making it a 14-7 game after the first quarter.

With the Saints leading 21-7 in the second quarter, the Bucs would answer with a Glennon touchdown pass to tight end Tim Wright. That touchdown gave Glennon eight multi-touchdown games on the season. But as expected, Brees would throw yet another touchdown before the half to make it 28-14.

The Bucs appeared to have started out the second half on a good note with a time consuming drive but after keeping Drew Brees and the New Orleans off the field, Tampa Bay can only get a field goal. That’s about all the offense the Bucs would get going the rest of the afternoon.

Brees finished 24 of 31 for 381 yards and four touchdowns while running in for another as the Bucs go home wondering what is next for the franchise after falling to 4-12 in 2013.
